Dr. Flowers 

Veterinarian

Dr. Cherie Flowers began as our full-time veterinary surgeon in September 2020 and prior to that Dr. Flowers spent several months doing relief work for our clinic.  She graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. 

Dr. Flowers, her husband, and their dogs Gambit and Hurley, are happy to be back in Columbia.

Carissa Luttrell

Registered Veterinary Technician

Carissa is the clinic’s Lead Registered Veterinary Technician ​and has been with us since our opening in April 2015. She graduated with an AAS Veterinary Technology degree in 2013. Carissa worked as a Registered Veterinary Technician at a progressive emergency clinic in Southeast Missouri before joining our SNP team.  Carissa attended specialized training sessions to fine-tune her anesthesia and surgery prep skills at the Humane Alliance in North Carolina prior to the opening of the clinic. She enjoys spending time with her dog Jack (often a model on our FB posts) and her two cats Frank and Jessie.

Diann Stelzer

Office Manager
 

Diann is our Office Manager and can also be found helping out as a surgery assistant when needed. Prior to becoming our Office Manager, Diann worked as a part-time veterinary assistant for the past five years. Diann is originally from Detroit, MI and has a RN, BSN from Florida State University in 1990 and a BA in Religion from the University of Florida in 1988. Diann has been involved in rescue for over 18 years, specializing in Trap Neuter and Return (TNR). Last year she started a rescue called Barnie's Place Feline Rescue with some friends who are passionate about the care of cats in our community.   In addition to fostering cats for the rescue, Diann and her husband Hank have dog named Francis, who was adopted from Unchained Melodies and a couple cats.

Dr. Albin

Relief Veterinarian

Dr. Cheryl Albin serves as our clinic's relief veterinarian.  She graduated from the MU College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990.  After graduating, she worked in private practice, did relief work, and worked at the Dogwood Animal Shelter at Lake of the Ozarks.  Dr. Albin has been passionate about spay/neuter work for many years and opened the Spay Neuter Clinic in Sedalia in 2002.  She resides in Otterville and has one adult son and several pets.

Janeene Johnston

Executive Director

Janeene began as our Executive Director in November 2018.  A Mid-Missouri native, Janeene has over 30 years working in social services and the nonprofit sector.  She holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Missouri-Columbia and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Janeene enjoys fostering for a local rescue and is a long-time champion for companion animals in Columbia. Her experience and passion for helping people and animals have been an asset to our clinic. Janeene is a cat mom and if you know her, you know that orange cats are her favorite (but don't tell her the other cats).
